About the Chamber
The Notarial Chamber of the Czech Republic (hereinafter, the “Chamber“) is a legal association organized under the laws of the Czech Republic with its registered office in Prague. The Chamber consists of eight regional notarial chambers. Each notary is a member of the regional notarial chamber where his or her office is registered.
The Chamber and its regional notarial chambers have been commissioned by state law to regulate professional practice of notaries. In the scope of such delegated state authority, they maintain an effective execution of the notarial profession, by promoting the proper administration and supervision of notarial offices, monitoring and acting on issues concerning the regulation of the profession, assuring the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics, as well as developing programs for professional education of notaries and their staff. The Chamber also makes recommendations to the Minister of Justice regarding the number of notarial offices to be established under each district court. It also manages appointments to vacant notarial posts as well as newly formed notarial offices.
The Chamber and its regional notarial chambers also represent the interests of notaries at national and international levels, as well as represent and advocate for them in relation to the state authorities, local government bodies and the public. The Chamber is a member of, and has a representative at, the International Union of Notaries (U.I.N.L.) and the Council of the Notariats of the European Union (CNUE).
